Basketball Game Preview: Bloomfield Bobcats vs. Aztec Tigers

Bloomfield is a perfect 10-0 against Aztec since January of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Bobcats challenge the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Bloomfield was handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Kirtland Central on Friday. Bloomfield was the clear victors by a 66-45 margin over Kirtland Central.

Bloomfield's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Xavier Abernathy, who to rack up 14 points in addition to eight boards and four steals, and Kaydin Nelson, who en route to 18 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Nelson a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Paxton Morris, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Aztec hadn't done well against Kirtland Central recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Aztec took down Kirtland Central 65-51.

Aztec is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-17 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points over those games. Bloomfield's victory bumped their record up to 14-12.

Bloomfield didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Aztec in their previous matchup two weeks ago, but they still walked away with a 53-47 win. Will Bloomfield repeat their success, or does Aztec have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
