Recap: Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators vs. Lighthouse Baptist Academy Ambassadors
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against West Florida Baptist Academy, the Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They strolled past Lighthouse Baptist Academy with points to spare, taking the game 69-53. With that victory, Gulf Pointe Latin brought their scoring average up to 51.7 points per game.
It was another big night for Micah Crumpler, who scored 17 points along with three blocks. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Dean Fillmore, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Gulf Pointe Latin's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4. As for Lighthouse Baptist Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gulf Pointe Latin will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Varsity Opponent at 6:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Lighthouse Baptist Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Central Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
