Basketball Recap: University Comes Up Short

University has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were outmatched by the Windsor Charter Academy Firebirds and fell 85-57. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (55), the Bulldogs still had to take the loss.

University's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gage Schminke, who shot 45% from the field on his way to 14 points. John Elbe was another key player, putting up 11 points and five boards.

Windsor Charter Academy's win on Wednesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Andrew Schams, who went 11-for-21 en route to 28 points along with five assists and five rebounds. That's the most points Schams has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Dayton Long, who shot 57% from the field to rack up 21 points and six boards.

University's defeat dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Windsor Charter Academy, their victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-1.

University has already played their next contest, a 76-66 loss against Strasburg on the 1st. As for Windsor Charter Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 77-43 defeat against Resurrection Christian on the 1st.
