Basketball Recap: Tonopah Valley Comes Up Short

Tonopah Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks and fell 80-5. The Phoenix lost against the Shamrocks in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 56-14 score last time.

Kiamora Melton was Tonopah Valley's leading scorer, having posted three points. Emelly Peralta held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

Tonopah Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Yuma Catholic, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-6.

Tonopah Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 38-34 loss against Apache Junction on the 20th. Yuma Catholic has also already played their next match, a 79-9 victory against River Valley on the 18th.
