Volleyball Recap: Branchville Takes a Loss

Branchville was the 3-1 winner over Andrew Jackson Academy when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Yellow Jackets fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Yellow Jackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Branchville started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 18-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-16, 15-11.

McKinnley Beard was her usual excellent self, getting 25 kills, eight digs, four blocks, and four aces for Andrew Jackson Academy. That's the most blocks Beard has posted over her last seven contests. Bella Carrigg was another key player, getting 31 assists and five digs.

Branchville's loss dropped their record down to 14-8-1. As for Andrew Jackson Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-7 record this season.

Branchville is taking a road trip to face off against Orangeburg-Wilkinson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Andrew Jackson Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Colleton Prep Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
