Baseball Recap: Beech Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Beech, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hendersonville Commandos a 9-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Buccaneers not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28th.

Kaden Powell made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last four matches. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Jackson Kennedy was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Jack Douglass was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Beech kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Beech's victory bumped their record up to 17-12. As for Hendersonville, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beech will take on Lipscomb Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Buccaneers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hendersonville, they will take on Goodpasture Christian in a tournament on Thursday.
