Duncan hasn't had much luck against Miami recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Duncan will head out to square off against Miami at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Duncan has four straight wins, Miami has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Duncan had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Patagonia on Friday. Duncan put the hurt on Patagonia with a sharp 9-3 victory. While the Wildkats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Taygan Jensen was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).
Jensen wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Harris, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Harris has posted since back in April of 2024. Guy Riedhead was another, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Miami came up short against Gilbert Classical Academy on Friday, falling 15-4.
Duncan's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Miami, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.
Miami's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Duncan has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .452. It's a different story for Miami, though, as they've only averaged .363. Will they be able to contain Duncan's hitters?
Duncan might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from Miami in their previous meeting back in April of 2018. Can Duncan avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
