Basketball Recap: Sylvia Krueger's Big Game Can't Quite Lead De Soto over Luther

De Soto lost against Luther back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The De Soto Pirates took a hard 61-43 fall against the Luther Knights. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 250th, while the Knights are ranked 89th).

Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sylvia Krueger, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Krueger is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kylee Venner, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.

De Soto is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-7. As for Luther, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3.

De Soto will head out on the road to face off against La Farge/Youth Initiative at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Luther, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 55-36 loss against Aquinas on the 3rd.
