The Swainsboro Tigers are taking a road trip to face off against the Savannah Country Day Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Swainsboro is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 26.4 points per game this season.

On Friday, Swainsboro had to suffer through a 47-20 loss at the hands of Toombs County. The Tigers were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

The losing side was boosted by Marco Danford, who rushed for 44 yards and one touchdown, and also caught one TD.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 34 points the game before, Savannah Country Day was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They took a blow against Savannah Christian, falling 42-7. The Hornets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.

Swainsboro will have to keep a close watch on James Pannell and Devin Trawick, a pair of players who had a big impact on Savannah Country Day's prior game. Pannell picked up 86 receiving yards and one score, while Trawick rushed for 81 yards on only nine carries.

Savannah Country Day's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Swainsboro, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Swainsboro has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 204 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Savannah Country Day struggles in that department as they've been averaging 167.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Swainsboro was able to grind out a solid victory over Savannah Country Day in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 28-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
