Baseball Recap: Botkins' Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Botkins got themselves on the board against Cory-Rawson on Wednesday, but Cory-Rawson never followed suit. They blew past the Fighting Hornets 9-0. This was payback for the Trojans, who suffered a 6-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Not much got past Phil Hall, who gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks to keep Cory-Rawson off the board. Hall has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Will Monnin, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Botkins is undefeated when Monnin posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Levi Frey, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Botkins' victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8. As for Cory-Rawson, their defeat was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-11.

Coming up, Botkins will square off against Jackson Center at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games the Tigers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Cory-Rawson, they will face off against Riverdale at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Fighting Hornets are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
