Baseball Recap: Rhea County Golden Eagles vs. McMinn County Cherokees
Rhea County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the McMinn County Cherokees. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cherokees this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-2 last Monday.
Rhea County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Halston Shaver, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double was Shaver's first of the season. Another was Casen Kinney, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Rhea County's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for McMinn County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-10.
While Rhea County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
