Basketball Game Preview: Arvada West Wildcats vs. Chatfield Chargers

Arvada West is 2-8 against Chatfield since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Arvada West Wildcats will host the Chatfield Chargers at 7:00 p.m. Arvada West knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Chatfield likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Arvada West humbled Horizon with a 55-23 victory. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.

Saylor Swanson went supernova for Arvada West, going 7-for-12 on her way to 21 points. That's the most points Swanson has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Avery Harrison, who put up seven points along with nine boards and five blocks.

Arvada West was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Horizon only racked up two assists.

Meanwhile, Chatfield came up short against Rocky Mountain on Saturday and fell 60-49. The loss continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Lobos: they've now lost three in a row.

Chatfield's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Arvada West, their victory bumped their record up to 18-3.

Arvada West came out on top in a nail-biter against Chatfield when the teams last played back in January, sneaking past 54-51. Will Arvada West repeat their success, or does Chatfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
