Basketball Recap: Bloomfield Bobcats vs. Kirtland Central Broncos
On Tuesday, the Bloomfield Bobcats faced the Kirtland Central Broncos in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Bloomfield took a hard 56-38 fall against the Broncos. Bloomfield has not had much luck with the Broncos recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Bloomfield lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aliya Quintana. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. Quintana is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Delanna Russell, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Bloomfield has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-5 record this season. As for Kirtland Central, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bloomfield will play host again and welcome the Chieftains, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Kirtland Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bengals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gallup is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road.
