Football Recap: Winthrop Falls to Tewksbury Memorial in First Game of Season

Winthrop unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by the Tewksbury Memorial Redmen 34-6 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts football rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Redmen are ranked 28th).

Coming up, Winthrop will head out on the road to take on Northeast Metro RVT at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Tewksbury Memorial, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Methuen at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th.
