The Archbishop Ryan Raiders and Ragdolls will head out on the road to square off against Abington Friends at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
Archbishop Ryan fell victim to Cardinal O'Hara and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 8-0 to the Lions. Considering the last time the Raiders and Ragdolls couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.
Meanwhile, Abington Friends entered their tilt with Perkiomen School on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 15-12.
Lorelai Stirling was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and ten unearned) runs off seven hits. Stirling was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Serafina Kubersky was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Elise Graber, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Abington Friends was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .326 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Abington Friends' win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Archbishop Ryan, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Archbishop Ryan has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Abington Friends struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
