Baseball Game Preview: Venus Bulldogs vs. Godley Wildcats

Venus is 0-10 against Godley since March of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Venus Bulldogs will host the Godley Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Venus took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Hillsboro by a score of 12-7.

Cayden Lucas was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Cashton Klein was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, everything went Godley's way against Ferris on Tuesday as Godley made off with a 15-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 15 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Tabor Anderson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Anderson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Byron McClure, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Crosby Carmichael, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Godley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ferris only posted an OBP of .333.

Godley is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-3-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. Venus' victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 10-9.
