Basketball Game Preview: Fairmont Firebirds vs. Miamisburg Vikings + How To Watch

For the first time this season, Fairmont will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will challenge the Miamisburg Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Miamisburg took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Fairmont, who comes in off a win.

Fairmont is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Trotwood-Madison: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Firebirds blew the Rams out of the water with a 76-20 final score. With the Firebirds ahead 58-8 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Janiyah Hargrave went supernova, shooting 75% from the field to rack up 22 points and four steals. The last time her shooting accuracy was this high was back in December of 2024. Kaylah Thorton was another key player, going 6-for-13 on her way to 14 points and seven steals.

Fairmont smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trotwood-Madison only pulled down four offensive rebounds.

Meanwhile, Miamisburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a hard 55-41 fall against Valley View. Vikings fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Spartans since Monday.

Fairmont has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 68.0 points this season. As for Miamisburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Fairmont took their win against Miamisburg when the teams last played back in February by a conclusive 56-30 score. Will the Firebirds repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
