Basketball Recap: Swansea Victorious

After losing to Newberry the last time they met, Swansea decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, the Swansea Tigers made off with a 42-41 win over the Newberry Bulldogs.

Swansea's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Iyanna Butler, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Butler is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last eight games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Nylah Washington, who posted 19 points and four steals.

Swansea was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Swansea's record now sits at 7-9. As for Newberry, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-16.

Swansea wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 42-38 loss against Waccamaw on the 17th. As for Newberry, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 59-27 win against North Charleston on the 17th.
