Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Loss Ends Buchanan's Winning Streak

Buchanan was the 72-58 winner over Clovis West when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Buchanan Bears fell 52-43 to the Clovis West Golden Eagles on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bears came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 120th).

It was another big night for Dj Stickman, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds for Clovis West. Stickman is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Jalen Sarden was another key player, going 5 for 9 on his way to 11 points.

With the defeat, Buchanan broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 22-4. As for Clovis West, their victory bumped their record up to 12-15.

Buchanan will challenge Clovis North at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Clovis North knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Buchanan likes a good challenge. As for Clovis West, they will head out to take on Clovis at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Clovis West is facing Clovis at the right time seeing as Clovis is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
