The Seymour Thunder will face off against the Denmark Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Seymour is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 11 games.
On Saturday, Seymour made easy work of Xavier and carried off a 15-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Thunder, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Scott Sassman was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Poch, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Seymour was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Denmark posted their closest victory since May 18, 2024 on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over Freedom. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Irish: they've now won five in a row.
Tommy Bienapfl was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Josh Gajeski, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Seymour's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Denmark, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Seymour has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Denmark struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
