Softball Game Preview: Springfield Cougars vs. Abington Heights Comets

The Springfield Cougars will face off against the Abington Heights Comets on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Springfield 2.5, Abington Heights 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Springfield is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Upper Dublin. Considering the Cougars have won 24 matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Abington Heights entered their tilt with East on Thursday with 17 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 18. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Vikings.

Adrianna Condrad spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Abington Heights let Riley McColligan and Avary Brister run wild. McColligan went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Brister went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Bustos, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Springfield's win bumped their record up to 31-4. As for Abington Heights, their victory bumped their record up to 23-1.
