The Faith Christian Patriots will challenge the Harrells Christian Academy Crusaders at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Harrells Christian Academy will be up against a hot Faith Christian squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. Faith Christian sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over Kerr-Vance Academy on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Patriots have posted since April 23, 2024.
Tanner Trevathan was excellent, scoring a run while going 4-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Andrew Rine, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Trevathan wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Faith Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Harrells Christian Academy had to endure a five-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They had just enough and edged out Rocky Mount Academy 6-4. The Crusaders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
The team relied heavily on Drake Smith, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Dawson Smith, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Harrells Christian Academy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Faith Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Faith Christian's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's match. Faith Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Harrells Christian Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Faith Christian continue to outrun the ball?
