Basketball Preview: Gerstell Academy vs. Concordia Prep Saints
Gerstell Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Concordia Prep Saints at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Gerstell Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully the Saints like a good challenge.
Even though Indian Creek scored an imposing 58 points on Wednesday, Gerstell Academy still came out on top. Gerstell Academy managed a 63-58 victory over the Eagles. Given Gerstell Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Eagles are ranked 195th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Concordia Prep pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 60-59 to Annapolis Area Christian.
Gerstell Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Concordia Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.
Gerstell Academy skirted past the Saints 54-51 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Does Gerstell Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Saints turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
