Basketball Game Preview: Onsted Wildcats vs. Eaton Rapids Greyhounds

The Onsted Wildcats and the Eaton Rapids Greyhounds will round out the year against one another at at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Onsted knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Eaton Rapids likes a good challenge.

Onsted is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Blissfield, posting an 88-45 victory. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Onsted's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but JT Hill led the charge by going 7 of 12 en route to 15 points along with six assists and five steals. The dominant performance also gave Hill a new career-high in blocks (three). Another player making a difference was Collin Gerken, who went 6 of 7 en route to 15 points.

Hill wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Onsted was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Eaton Rapids earned a 59-51 win over Potterville on Monday.

Onsted pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.4 points per game. As for Eaton Rapids, their win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6.

Onsted skirted past Eaton Rapids 61-58 when the teams last played back in March of 2015. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Eaton Rapids' Jared Mcdaniel, who posted 19 points along with six assists and four steals. Now that he won't be playing on Saturday, will it be easier for Onsted to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
