Preview: University Phoenix vs. Millburn Millers
The University Phoenix's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Millburn Millers at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. One thing working in University's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 contests.
University pushed their score all the way to 69 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their rough 90-69 defeat to Orange might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, University can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while Orange is ranked 83rd).
Meanwhile, Millburn strolled past West Essex with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 65-49. Millburn pushed the score to 56-33 by the end of the third, a deficit West Essex cut but never quite recovered from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Millburn to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zach Benmorits, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Noah Ravitz, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
University has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Millburn, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
University lost to Millburn on the road by a decisive 70-51 margin when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Benmorits, who scored 35 points along with seven rebounds. Now that University knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
