Durham Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over Kerr-Vance Academy. The victory continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won four in a row.
Maxwell Niedel spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Benjamin Kuo was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brady Pollard, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Durham Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, North Raleigh Christian Academy has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.43 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. They fell 11-6 to Grace Christian. The Knights' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
North Raleigh Christian Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Rowlands, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Durham Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for North Raleigh Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 15-6.
