Football Recap: Anaheim Falls to Fullerton in First Game of Season

Anaheim unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by the Fullerton Indians 40-6 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Colonists have suffered since September 6, 2024.

Jacob Campos threw for 108 yards on eight of 15 attempts. Xavier Aviles was his top target, picking up 56 receiving yards. On the ground, Lloyd Nolasco rushed for 64 yards and one touchdown.

A big part of Fullerton's win came down to the chemistry between Sergio Andrade and his top target Caden Wise. Andrade threw for 157 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 80% of his passes while Wise gained 109 total yards and three touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Wise a new career-high in receiving yards (78).

Anaheim didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 34-13 victory against Katella on the 29th. As for Fullerton, they have also already played their next matchup, a 50-0 win against Indio on the 29th.
