Baseball Game Preview: Sacred Heart Prep Gators vs. Burlingame Panthers

The Sacred Heart Prep Gators are taking a road trip to square off against the Burlingame Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Sacred Heart Prep's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Burlingame's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Sacred Heart Prep will bounce into Friday's match after beating Burlingame, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Sacred Heart Prep came out on top against Burlingame by a score of 4-1 on Wednesday.

Devin Saltzgaber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, Sacred Heart Prep saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Schmalzle, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Alex Daheb also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Sacred Heart Prep hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Burlingame struck out 13 times.

Sacred Heart Prep's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Burlingame, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-3.
