But down in Florida, Vero Beach has completed its season perfect for a second straight year.
The Fighting Indians wrapped up a 22-0 campaign by beating Winter Springs, 20-3, in the FHSAA championship game on Saturday.
Vero Beach will start the 2012 season with an astonishing 60-game winning streak overall and 70-game win streak against Florida opponents.
The last time the Fighting Indians lost a game was on March 6, 2009, when they dropped a 14-9 decision to Archbishop Spalding of Maryland. They went 21-0 last season, with their final game being a narrow 10-9 victory over Lake Brantley in the state championship game.

Ridgewood (N.J.) saw its 38-game win streak end in a 19-11 loss to St. Anthony's (N.Y.). Ridgewood won a pair of state titles during that streak.

Ossining (N.Y.) enjoyed one of the most impressive single-game, individual scoring performances of the season. Malone scored 13 goals in a 21-13 victory over Sleepy Hollow to tie the state record held by several players for second-most goals scored in a girls varsity game. The state record for goals in a game is 15.
