Softball Recap: College Station Falls Short of Barbers Hill in the Playoffs

College Station and Barbers Hill squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but College Station had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2018.

Gracie Ream spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 22 consecutive appearances.

College Station's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-9. As for Barbers Hill, they are on a roll lately: they've won 21 of their last 22 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-3 record this season.

While College Station had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
