Softball Game Preview: Loogootee Lions vs. Paoli Rams

Loogootee is a perfect 7-0 against Paoli since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Lions will take on the Rams at 5:00 p.m. Loogootee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Loogootee barely beat White River Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lions were the clear victors by a 22-3 margin over the Wolverines on Thursday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Lions as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Jocelynn Sims was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Chloe Lawson was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Loogootee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.2.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Paoli was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They came up short against West Washington, falling 12-1. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Senators recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Paoli saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Jones, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Loogootee's win bumped their record up to 4-15. As for Paoli, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.

Loogootee beat Paoli 7-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
