Baseball Recap: Belle Plaine Comes Up Short

Belle Plaine extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 21 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-20 in the process. They lost 8-1 to the Chaparral Roadrunners. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Roadrunners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-4 back in March.

Belle Plaine saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mattix Bruner, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Chaparral, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games.

On Chaparral's side, Carter Hostetler and Conner Hostetler were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Hostetler tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Conner didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Hostetler got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI, while Conner went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave Conner a new career-high.

While Belle Plaine had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
