Baseball Recap: Martin Luther King Gets the Win

Martin Luther King's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with an 11-7 win over the West Philadelphia Speedboys. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Speedboys, too.

Kingsley Snyder made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Jackson, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Malaki Alexander was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Martin Luther King's record now sits at 7-1-1. As for West Philadelphia, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.

As of now, neither Martin Luther King nor the Speedboys have any future games scheduled.
