Football Recap: Anson Falls to Red Springs in First Game of Season

Anson had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Red Springs Red Devils by a score of 32-30 on Friday.

When it comes to explaining why Anson lost, don't look at Cordarrius Bivens. Despite the final result, he rushed for 200 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per carry, and also picked up 58 receiving yards. Bivens showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 59 yards. Anson also got a significant boost from Tasean Harris, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.

Chase Boone went supernova For Red Springs., throwing for 337 yards and five TDs while picking up 16.0 yards per attempt. Those five passing touchdowns gave Boone a new career-high.

Anson has already played their next game, a 38-16 defeat against Montgomery Central on the 29th. As for Red Springs, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 36-28 loss against Pender on the 29th.
