Volleyball Recap: Green Valley Wins High-Profile Game Against Centennial

Green Valley faced Centennial in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Gators walked away with a 3-1 win over the Bulldogs. The victory was nothing new for the Gators as they're now sitting on three straight.

The win didn't come easy: Centennial scored at least 21 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 22-25, 25-21, 26-24.

Green Valley's offense was headlined by Taylor Beck and David Davila, who picked up nine kills apiece. They got some help from Jeremiah Nissley and his 27 assists. Finally, Davila was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.

Despite the loss, Centennial saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ty Ahlstrom had 30 digs and five assists. Those 30 digs set a new season-high mark for Ahlstrom.

Green Valley's victory bumped their record up to 13-17. As for Centennial, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7.

Looking ahead, Green Valley will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Clark at 6:00 p.m. As for Centennial, they will take on Mojave in a tournament on Friday.
