Baseball Recap: Waterloo Comes Up Short

Waterloo extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping them down to 1-10. They lost 12-2 to the Springfield Tigers. The Vikings were not able to make up for their loss to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Waterloo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Biltz, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double was Biltz's first of the season.

As for Springfield, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-4. Considering they have won five matchups by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

On Springfield's side, they let Noah Troggio and Brock Masello run wild. Troggio went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Masello went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Troggio is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Greyson Seifert, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

While Waterloo had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
