Basketball Game Preview: Atlantic Christian Cougars vs. Genoa Christian Academy

The Atlantic Christian Cougars and Genoa Christian Academy will face off at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Atlantic Christian comes in on ten and Genoa Christian Academy on three.

Atlantic Christian saw some tournament action on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 71-50 margin over Kankakee Trinity Academy. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Genoa Christian Academy didn't have too much trouble with Columbia County Christian on Friday as they won 64-49.

Atlantic Christian better focus on containing Evan Allgood and Jackson Kirura as the pair were huge in Genoa Christian Academy's win. Allgood shot 64% from the field to rack up 26 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals, while Kirura dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards. Kirura's morning made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Laife Pearl, who posted nine points and six boards.

Genoa Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Genoa Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Atlantic Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 25-10.
