Softball Recap: Stafford Takes a Loss

After flying high against La Marque last Tuesday, Stafford came back down to earth. The Spartans came up short against the Almeta Crawford Chargers on Friday, falling 11-5. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Chargers earlier this season, when they won 14-4.

Noehli Torres and Genasis Mendez did some serious damage despite the final result: Torres scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances, while Mendez scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Nayeli Rebuelta, who scored three runs while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.

Stafford's loss dropped their record down to 11-8-1. As for Almeta Crawford, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6.

Stafford wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 18-3 victory against Royal on the 15th. As for Almeta Crawford, they have also already played their next contest, an 18-0 win against Fort Bend Willowridge on the 15th.
