Volleyball Game Preview: William Monroe Dragons vs. Rocktown Raptors

The William Monroe Dragons are taking a road trip to face off against the Rocktown Raptors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. William Monroe will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more sets each match than the last.

William Monroe took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Harrisonburg. The win was some much needed relief for the Dragons as it spelled an end to their three-match losing streak.

William Monroe had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 17-25, 18-25, 25-23, 25-17, 15-10.

Meanwhile, Rocktown lost 3-0 to Eastern Mennonite last Tuesday. The Raptors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Rocktown now has a losing record of 1-2. As for William Monroe, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 8-4.

William Monroe came out on top in a nail-biter against Rocktown when the teams last played back in October of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Dragons repeat their success, or do the Raptors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
