Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Alcorn Central). Everything went their way against the Middleton Tigers on Friday as the Alcorn Central Bears made off with a 17-2 win. With that victory, the Bears brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Jackson Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because Alcorn Central is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 5-6 otherwise. Miller was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Miller wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jayse Johnson, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Johnson has posted since back in April of 2024.

Alcorn Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .724. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Alcorn Central has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Middleton and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Alcorn Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Belmont at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
