Baseball Game Preview: Francis Lewis Patriots vs. West 50th Street Seahawks

The Francis Lewis Patriots are taking a road trip to challenge the West 50th Street Seahawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Francis Lewis will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Francis Lewis will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Richmond Hill, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. The Patriots won by a run and slipped past the Lions 5-4.

Renos Pagiatakas made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Pagiatakas wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Eddy Lazar, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Those two hits gave Lazar a new career-high. Derek Young also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, West 50th Street was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They fell 4-1 to Richmond Hill. The matchup marked the Seahawks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Francis Lewis' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for West 50th Street, they moved to 4-2 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Francis Lewis might still be hurting after the 12-1 defeat they got from West 50th Street when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
