Baseball Recap: Howell Extends Winning Streak to Three

Howell won against Middletown South on Monday with two runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Rebels beat the Eagles by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 2-1. The win was familiar territory for the Rebels, who have now won three matchups in a row.

John Bertan looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Howell's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 3-5 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Howell's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Todisco, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Howell's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Middletown South, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Howell will host Rumson-Fair Haven at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Middletown South, they will be playing at home against Allentown at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
