Volleyball Recap: Cedar Springs Takes a Loss

Cedar Springs was the 2-1 winner over Zeeland West when they last played one another back in September of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Red Hawks fell just short of the Dux by a score of 2-1 on Thursday.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Cedar Springs sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-6, 17-25, 25-15.

Their offense was headlined by Taylor Gunderson and Kendall Fisk, who picked up six kills apiece. They got some help from Jessie Teesdale and her 20 assists. Finally, Ava Workman kept Cedar Springs' defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Cedar Springs has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-22-3 record this season. As for Zeeland West, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-11.

Looking ahead, Cedar Springs will host Coopersville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Zeeland West, they are taking a road trip to take on Holland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
