Softball Recap: Martinsville Comes Up Short

If Martinsville was feeling good fresh off their 10-4 takedown of Grapeland last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Martinsville Pirates lost 16-4 to the Mt. Enterprise Wildcats on Saturday. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Martinsville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Audrey Locke, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Locke has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another was Hanna Bass, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

Martinsville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Mt. Enterprise, their record now sits at 4-1.

Looking ahead, Martinsville will be playing at home against Garrison at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Martinsville is facing Garrison at the right time seeing as Garrison is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Mt. Enterprise, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Chireno on the 1st.
