Basketball Recap: Anthony Wilson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Overton over Whitehaven

Overton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 65-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Whitehaven Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Tigers are ranked fourth).

Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Anthony Wilson, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 16 points. The dominant performance gave Wilson a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Gladney, who went 6 for 14 en route to 14 points and six rebounds.

Overton's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Whitehaven, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-3.

Overton has already played their next match, a 73-62 loss against Memphis East on the 28th. As for Whitehaven, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-47 win against Hillsboro on the 25th.
