Preview: Westover Wolverines vs. Rocky Mount Gryphons

After two games on the road, Westover is heading back home. They will take on the Rocky Mount Gryphons at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Saturday, Westover didn't have too much trouble with Seventy-First on the road as they won 49-31.

Rmani Robinson was on fire: she scored 22 points along with 8 steals and 7 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Westover's points. Another player making a difference was Tytiana Dowden, who scored 6 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.

Meanwhile, Rocky Mount humbled Dudley with a 54-20 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Rocky Mount.

Rocky Mount found their leader in underclassman Kira Jones, who scored 20 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Jones has scored at least 25% of Rocky Mount's points. McKinley Battle was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 4 steals.

The opposite results left the teams with opposite records: Westover's victory pushed their record up to 2-0, while Seventy-First's loss dropped theirs down to 0-2.

Westover took a serious blow against Rocky Mount in their previous matchup back in February of 2017, falling 70-9. Thankfully for Westover, Keyanna Spivey (who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
