Basketball Recap: Skyline Comes Up Short

Skyline lost against Red Mountain back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Skyline Coyotes took a 44-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Mountain Mountain Lions. While losing is never fun, the Coyotes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while the Mountain Lions are ranked 42nd).

Despite the loss, Skyline saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Isaiah Bowens posted 14 points.

Gage Lindsey had an outrageously good game for Red Mountain as he dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Lindsey a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Pietro Dimuzio, who had ten points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Skyline's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Red Mountain, they pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Skyline didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 86-24 loss against Mountain View on the 20th. As for Red Mountain, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 55-33 victory against Dobson on the 21st.
