Basketball Recap: Pasco Takes a Loss

Pasco was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 26th straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Gulf Buccaneers 54-1. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 660th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 309th).

When it comes to explaining why Pasco lost, don't look at Abi Grubbs. Despite the final result, she posted no points and 12 rebounds. Grubbs has been hot, having posted 12 or more boards the last seven times she's played.

Even though they lost, Pasco smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matches.

Pasco's defeat dropped their record down to 0-18. As for Gulf, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Pasco has already played their next game, a 58-20 loss against Zephyrhills on the 4th. As for Gulf, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 64-37 victory against Hudson on the 6th.
