Softball Recap: Newbury Park Comes Up Short

Newbury Park fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Westlake on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 5-4. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Hanna Porter was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Richardson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Newbury Park's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Westlake, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Newbury Park will face off against rival Oaks Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Westlake is set to square off against their familiar foe Agoura at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
