Basketball Game Preview: Brandeis Broncos vs. Stevens Falcons

Brandeis is 8-2 against Stevens since January of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The two teams will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. Brandeis is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Brandeis saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell 51-39 to Clark. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Broncos came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Cougars are ranked 346th).

Despite the defeat, Brandeis got top-tier performance from Tj Byrd, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Byrd is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Asher Wood, who posted six points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Stevens entered their game against Weiss on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Falcons took a 67-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolves.

The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 9-6. As for Brandeis, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.

Brandeis beat Stevens 64-53 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Broncos since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
